little info about him:

nero was inspired by a dream i had back then, he was originally going to be a really evil fox that hid behind a kind facade and went under the "innocent" alias "grape" and he was initially just a basic purple tails recolor with light blue eyes and i think green or yellow shoes. buuut i soon twisted this guy into an evil version and then nero was created.

in this image i redesigned him to use more inverted colors from sero20 and have a more original design overall than just being sero20 with different colors.

sonic fan doesn't have an evil version because he's a literal child. sero22 doesn't have an evil version because she was already pretty bad.

i came up with zeiro ("zay-row") kinda on the spot, but the gist is that they're basically a deformed version of sero22. the name is meant to sound like sero (or zero) as well. zeiro uses they/it in case you care.
