Some info on Toaster's gunplay mechanics.


The game has lock-on. However, the range is pretty short so you need to be pretty close to fire at the boss. You can also ONLY shoot when within the boss's range.

Here's the cool part: the boss's lifebar is dependent on how long you can keep firing at the boss while it is within range. If you get out of range of the boss, or stop shooting, the boss's health will gradually regenerate. Hence, you need to keep a constant onslaught of bullets to defeat the boss while dodging it and any other hazards.

The game also features a score multiplier based on this system: the longer you can keep firing at the boss, the more points you'll get. I'm still wondering what more I could do with the score but I think I'll just leave it as is.
