Ludum Dare 40’s jam phase is almost over, and here I am, missing out on the fun because I couldn’t think of anything that’d suit the theme. It’s a shame, maybe next time.
So, anyway, I decided to finally continue working on Tower of Morale, after I’ve submitted it for Ludum Dare 39 four months ago. It reached 100th place on Innovation (out of at least a thousand and a half entries, I believe), and this kinda motivates me to keep going, despite how “meh” the rest of the stats were (don’t get me started on Sound and Graphics).
Firstly, I’ve given the game a makeover. Well, mostly increasing the saturation of the palette and some hue modifications here and there… Also this one visual effect where rain drops out of the panels.
(the right half is using the new palette.)
There’s also this mechanic I’ve managed to implement, which I call a “moving platform”. Have a gif to sum up how it works.
(also columns. also sorry for not centering everything properly)
I’ve already designed 6 or so levels with said panel. Like last time, I tried making each puzzle have something to say about how their rules work, rather than have the player solve something like, (shudder)… a rubix rube, over and over again.
Anyway, I’ve still got a ways to go when it comes to visuals. I really need to build an atmosphere (especially through the background and some decor than isn’t simply columns stacked here and there), and I definitely have to add more character to that stickman.
Well, that’s all I got for now. See ya, and good luck with Ludum Dare 40 if you do participate!
