Status Update Nº2 - "Clarification"


AG here.

This is the second status update of my game, B.O.X: Gifted. On these "Status Updates", I will be explaining the progress made on the game as well as showing a teaser (not today tho, read teh PD at the end of the article to know why).

First of all, HAPPY late HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY! As you can maybe see, these status updates will be published monthly. I decided this for two major reasons:

  • It gives me more time to advance in the game and make status updates with more content.

  • There are a lot of hard exams and tests that I have to study for in my university degree, making me have less free time to advance in the game.

Now that this is off the table, let's go to business.

I've finished drawing and animating the jumpscares, as well as having drawn the death screens, which change depending on who has killed you in the game (they are pretty brutal ngl).

Finally, I've finished designing the jumpscare sounds and started connecting different scenes together, making the game almost fully playable.

For the next update, I will probably have finished making the main game, which will leave me with only the extras and settings menus, as well as the Custom Hour mode, which I'm pretty excited about.

PD: Personally, I feel like it showing a jumpscare or a deathscreen would make it lose the impact it will have once you see it in-game. That's the reason why I don't show them, to preserve the impact and beacuse the deathscreens are pretty brutal, making me change the disclaimer of the game page and the game itself. Because of this, enjoy the gif of my avatar doing the spooky dance.
