hi! :) you were probably not expecting me to make this announcement, but I have been helping Kamoc with this game quite a bit with feedback and some of my own implementations, so let's take a crack at some of the new content and other things you can expect to see for the new big flashy, sparkly update!
First off: Some new character interactions!
A lot of the dialogue in the game was kinda stiff or pretty lazily slapped in. Some scenes and eras did not really have much writing at all. So now some will be added in, giving some extra flavor to some characters and eras! Featuring some more voice work as well!
Secondly, element system!
Finale expansion now has one, and it's pretty in-depth to boot. If you've played EVE, you'll know what the deal here is. Featuring mechanics like absorptions, repels, immunities, and the like. This applies to both yourself and the bosses! New gear and trinkets have been added to accommodate these changes. Not everyone is necessarily a fan of element systems- however when you have a game with this many characters, it makes it a lot more manageable to give each of them a somewhat unique niche or role that makes interchanging characters in battle have a bit more incentive to do so.
To go along with this massive gameplay change, it is guaranteed that EVERY character will finally have purchasable passives and birthrights. A lot of characters still didn't have any, so that will be rectified for this update. Couple that with new bosses, new character reworks and buffs, and more tools to play with, and hopefully finale expansion should be a fun game you can turn your brain off and enjoy for the entire experience. I wanted Finale to feel more like a complete game- a lot of things were simply unfinished and that didn't sit quite right with me. I hope you're all looking forward to these changes. The game will be more complex, and a bit more strategic to be sure, but there will also be more opportunities to bulldoze the opponents with the new tools at your disposal. Many of the touhou characters have been reworked to be MASSIVELY improved and more worth using!
The perk setup has also been adjusted. You will now be able to obtain these via drops from random enemies through the eras and dungeons. They also come packed with new equipment drops that can really synergize or buff some of your characters to help with challenging fights in those dungeons!
New areas to go through will also be added, like the mountain from FNAFB 3 Act 0. Many new bossfights to endure and suffer through, but also new and improved rewards for doing so! New graphics and windowskins to improve the overall feel and look of the game are here too!
And of course, no update is complete without a bunch of new characters to be added. Only time will tell if some of these crack the game's balance like an egg, but it'll be interesting nonetheless.
My involvement with the game has largely been suggestions and adding a few new characters and bosses- so most of the credit here is still to Kamoc. However I think you'll find that the game will feel a lot more fleshed out and up to speed with modern standards of gameplay.
