Hey y'all, I have some unfortunate(?) news about Ignition Instability, the PYRO-ILLUSION fangame I was working on. Unfortunately, something has come up that has caused me to decide to put a full stop on the game, and it's something I do not have any control over as I still want to respect the creator's wishes. I could theoretically still make the game; however, I don't see much of a point for a multitude of reasons:
I'd technically be making the same type of game twice, Ignition Instability and my original fangame project Scattered Echoes are very similar in terms of premise and style, as well as gameplay progression. I'd essentially be doing the same thing two times in a row.
The restriction that was put on me would theoretically still allow me to finish the game, however I would need to wait for the official game to come out first. The problem with that is PYRO-ILLUSION in its current state would probably take another 2 years at minimum to be finished properly, and given the track record of the game, no offense to the developer obviously, I can't even be sure about that. I'd be making a game based entirely on a hypothetical of if and when another project comes out, and I can't put that kind of work into a project with that sort of restriction.
After this restriction was put in place, it kind of made me realize a lot. The truth is I've had an unhealthy obsession with PYRO-ILLUSION for a VERY long time, and it's one I've never fully come to terms with until yesterday. This has gotten so bad to the point where it's been affecting my mental health for a long while, and I think it's obvious now that my time with the game is over. I'm happy I had my experience with it but it's definitely time I moved on properly.
Now, where does that leave us? Well, don't fret! All of the work me and my friends have been putting into Ignition Instability isn't going anywhere.
Remember how I mentioned I'd essentially be making the same game twice? Well, what I decided to do was take the work and effort I was putting into Ignition and repurpose it for Scattered Echoes instead! My modeling style for both games was pretty much the exact same, so the props transitioned seamlessly into SE.
Plus, I think it's more valuable to be focusing on my own original projects instead of remaking another person's game. Scattered Echoes is certainly inspired by PYRO-ILLUSION, of course it is, it's the game that got me into game development. But outside of some obvious inspirations it's entirely its own thing, and I can do whatever I want with it because of that. No worries about restrictions or anything! So, I'm definitely happy I made the switch. Especially after I finished the dining hall last night, here's a look at what's to come!!
TLDR: Ignition Instability, my PYRO-ILLUSION fangame, is cancelled. The work I did for it will be repurposed for my solo fangame project "Scattered Echoes" instead. GSaF and Scattered Echoes are now my full-time focus for game development, as well as the upcoming patch for Chica's Party World: REBAKED.
Thank you all so much for reading, and I'll be sure to keep y'all updated!
