Hello everyone, while its only been just slightly over 4 months since our last big devlog, we couldn't skip over this games 1 year anniversary. All of us have been working very hard to show off as much as we want to. This devlog was also planned and had everything made much more smoothly then devlog #3. Anyways, this devlog is centered around the Final Encounter, alongside showing some scrapped content.

OVERTAKEN

While the Final Encounter is a very basic concept of a final fight against sans in the Final Corridor, it has changed so drastically that it doesn't even resemble what our game initially looked like, or any of its changes afterwards.

One thing you may also notice that is different from every fight in the game, alongside the original first version of the final corridor fight, is that there is now Karma.

However, Karma works a bit differently here from Undertale. Instead of no invincibility frames and taking a bunch of KR, you have invincibility frames and take KR like normal damage. This change was to make Final Corridor just a bit more unique with the dynamic of overtime damage, while not just being Undertales KR, since I find that a bit boring for Dust AU's alongside them tending to be unbalanced.

With all that out of the way, here's a short preview of the Final Encounter.

Alongside showing off the Final Encounter, we are also releasing the track on Soundcloud AND YouTube. We are finally putting the YouTube account to use, more uploads will happen there gradually overtime.

Overtaken isn't the only track we are releasing as well today.

sans., by Baughy. This track replaces Sans's Overworld theme, and also plays in some rooms in Undertale where it would play.

Determination(Reprise), by Baughy. This track replaces Red Melody as the gameover track, however Red Melody isn't scrapped and is being repurposed for something else.

New Artwork

If you haven't noticed, our banner has been outdated for half a year...oops. We have had a new one ready for about a month now, however we held off in favor of showing it off for our 1 year devlog.

Art by Dark Haos, please check him out! His artwork is amazing and has improved so much since the previous banner.

Art by Nicc. He wanted to update the gamejolt thumbnail since he wasnt happy with how the previous one looked.

Scrapped content
We thought it would be nice to also show some of the stuff we have scrapped over the past year.

First off, the phase 1 sprite we had before the new and final one. By Akane, Kit, and Ellen. These were scrapped due to not fitting the UT artstyle very well, and just being a mess in general.

Scrapped dialog portraits, by Akane. These still look neat, but don't fit the games art style anymore.

Scrapped and Unfinished Snowdin Encounter panel, by Cereal. This was scrapped when Snowdin Encounter had slightly different writing.

Beta/Concept Snowdin Encounter sprites, by Cereal and Akane. These were the first ever sprites for snowdin encounter, and served more like placeholders or concepts as opposed to actual final sprites.

Scrapped/WIP Overtaken versions, by Baughy

Thats pretty much everything we want to show for this devlog. We could show a bit more, but at the point I think we would be showing off WAY too much, even though it feels like we already are considering the length of this devlog. I hope you guys are happy with what we are doing, and that there is so much more we have in store we can't show yet.
