It is true, this is the final devlog. I've made up my mind, not going to post any more devlogs after this one.
Well then, let's wrap things up, shall we?
So... you showed a ton during the stream. What happened? (referring to this stream: https://www.youtube.com/live/ra0wNCyQ_EQ?si=TScXIxT5RLQb5R9z)
I figured, if the game’s nearly done, why not let loose a little?
I am slowly starting to get carried away, and I don't mind ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here are some screenshots one of my friends took during the stream:

Who is that fox character?
That is the easter egg character featured in Cube's Dark Hours Reopened, owned by @Shelly43
How do you come across this easter egg? Well, I won't really have to explain it, because the game already hints to it... :]
Why did you jump into Reopened on stream, then quit almost right away?
I got out of hand, but I won't get too out of hand :p
If this is the final devlog, what does it mean for the release of Reopened?
Isn't it obvious?
Any GameJolt API plans for Reopened, since it worked for the April Fools demo recently?
Sure, it indeed worked for the April Fools demo, but the API link...
Wait... Hold on...
>> What do you say about this?
>> Let me think about it... Wait, no, never mind, it’s fine. Or is it? Hmmm.
Hey, I'm back. Just had a small chat with my subconsious. Let's continue, shall we?
You talked shortly about potential naming for CDH2 and CDH: The Pricklz remake names. Do you have any plans for them yet?
(again, from the stream)
Thank Shelly for that once again. Not going to lie, "Cube's Dark Hours 2 Reshined" is a good concept name, instead of dragging out the "Reopened" suffix for these remakes as well.
Sure, you aren't working on remaking CDH2 and The Pricklz yet, but in your opinion, between these two, which one will be a "smaller" remake?
It most likely may be CDH: The Pricklz. However, it's a bit too early to start thinking about ideas, and I just want to wrap CDH1 Reopened in a nice sparkly bowtie, cut it with scissors and consider it truly "Reopened"... pun not intended.
Are there any other concepts you scrapped during the development of Reopened?
There aren't too many, but one thing the Extras Menu doesn't put light on is a scrapped character! (Maybe, in a future update, or even before the release, I might go back and implement it in the Extras Menu, I don't know)
The scrapped character would have been a white moth character, although visibly damaged and... bloody?
Remember from the original version, where the Tape Message from Night 5 were police sirens? Yep, you can probably tell that the "Tape Guy" would be the one stuffed in the moth character suit.
Why did I scrap it? Well, one of the many reasons was to perserve the current story direction that the series is going, and another reason was because I simply lost interest in the character.
What QOL features did you highlight when you jumped into Reopened for a short amount of time?
Smooth office scrolling is one of the more major ones!
Another one was a fading camera map, mainly meant for accessibility and more proper visibility. Oh, and the fact the selected cameras now also highlight the respective camera button.
You mentioned on the live stream that Anty now moves much quicker in the vent. Care to shed some light on that?
I already quoted this, but I'm going to quote it again:
"If you thought Fizzlepop was quick in the vents, then Anty will give her a run for her money"... At least, that's how I think it went.
Anyways, Anty will be very quick, so keep your guard up!
During the stream, when you showed a scrapped Lighthog run animation, will it return in Reopened?
No, it will not be making a return. With CDH1 Reopened, I am mostly leaning into the fact that the cameras cannot capture speed too well, just like it was in the original version, except more emphasized.
Have you hidden anything so well that you’re worried nobody will ever find it?
starwalker
Will the game page for Reopened release earlier or as soon as the trailer finishes premiering? Also, will you change your profile picture once we're close to release?
I'm planning to release CDH1 Reopened's game page before the trailer's premiere, mainly because I also have to take down the April Fools demo page.
About the profile picture change, expect it once we start getting close to the finish line :]
And now, we mark this next part as the "Audience Questions"! Including these from my friends and on GameJolt itself as well.
Here goes nothing:
"how different is the final game from what you first imagined when you were making it" (by @RazzleDashle )
The simplest way I can explain it is:
"Imagine you are in the kitchen. You've got yourself a good cut of beef and are ready to start cooking. You start seasoning, searing, so on, so forth. You were planning to make a steak on the medium level, but, to your surprise, the steak came out medium-rare. Sure, it was not what you were going for, but it came out a lot better than you ever imagined!"
Is the older version not canon anymore?
Plus will you update The CDH 1 gamepage to CDH 1 reopened or your just making a new gamepage for it? (by @Shelly43 )
I already answered this question, but I'm going to shed some light on it once again:
The story is still fully based on the original version, so nothing changes canonically.
About the pages, the original and Reopened will be separate. Although, the April Fools game page will be taken down eventually before Reopened’s release.
And that is all for the Audience Questions!
Much shorter section, but better to have it small than not have it at all.
And that’s a wrap.
That’s everything that's happened with CDH1 Reopened. It shifted a bit from the original vision, but the result feels stronger and more natural... at least, in my eyes, but soon, it'll be yours to judge.
This really is the final “News Post Thingie” for Cube’s Dark Hours Reopened. It’s been a wild ride, and I wouldn't change a thing about the journey.
Huge thanks to everyone who stuck around, gave feedback, asked questions, or just vibed with the progress. You’ve helped shape this thing into something I'm truly proud of.
From here on out, it’s full focus on the release. I'm not here to overhype it, but I hope it feels like a true “Reopening” of CDH1.
Night's coming, are you ready?
Take care, stay safe, God bless!
