The all-new weapon shop!

For those of you who played Ignition, you may remember the shop as a static menu screen where you can buy and equip weapon and accessories. Well, there’s a shop in Crucible too, but this one’s more exciting!

This shop isn’t just a menu - it’s an in-game location that’s part of the new hub level.

Prototype graphics ahoy!

(Ever wondered why the Vibrosword has two holes in the blade? Now you know - they’re joints!)

Not only is the shop a place you can visit in-person, but the weapon detail images are now animated (as you can see on the new Vibrosword screen).

That’s all for now. I have in fact been working on other things within the game since my last post 5 months ago, and I’ll try harder to keep this devlog updated in the future.

In the meantime, you can get much more frequent updates on the Carnage in Space Facebook page!

I thought the escape sequence in Chapter 2 didn't have enough urgency to it, so I spiced it up a little.

I also wrote a new song to go with it!

Keep an eye out for this in the next update, coming... whenever I feel like it.

I updated the character select screen again!

I ditched the blurred overlay background for a stylish color-changing gradient, and added a spotlight to justify the players' shadows.

I also combined player & difficulty onto 1 screen for efficiency.

I got a little creative block working on the lake level, so I skipped ahead for a bit.

This is the Boss Rush arena event! You fight many/all bosses back-to-back here.

I decided to go crazy with 3D effects here, since it happens in a virtual reality room.

Sure has been a while since I posted something new, huh? Well, that's because I've been working on something big (that, and bugfixing).

Here's a little preview of that something!

Some new background elements in Chapter 4 (N). The sky's a little less barren now that there are more floating rocks off in the background.

These also use 3D depth for accurate scaling, parallax scrolling, and distance fog.

More underwater friends :)

Scenic subterranean lake ambiance.

It seems so peaceful... for now.

Oodles of options!

Accessibility aids aplenty!

I added some more settings lately to toggle distorted graphics, fine-tune the audio mixing, and other stuff. Hopefully this should make the game accessible to more kinds of players.

Presented without comment.

Behold, your reward for beating boss rush - this sick-as-heck 3D cutscene I threw together over the weekend!

Yeah, I know the game is mostly 2D, but I really felt like going way over the top with this game mode. I hope it paid off.
