The "FNaF: In Real Time" Situation

If you have not seen this situation on Twitter, then let me catch you up:

Yesterday, Jaze Cinema uploaded a video to their Youtube channel titled, "Toy Bonnie FNaF in Real Time Voice Lines Animated."

This caught the attention of Real Times Studios, the devs behind the FNaF fan game, "Five Nights at Freddy's: In Real Time," who made this tweet shortly after the video went up.

(And I do mean shortly.)

I hope I don't have to explain how ridiculous that sounds, but I'll say it anyway: they don't own FNaF. Real Time Studios is telling Jaze Cinema to turn off monetization on a video which features characters they do not own.

Jaze Cinema realized the ridiculousness of this as well, and contacted Real Time Studios via DMs, telling them that the video has nothing to do with FNaF: In Real Time, and is simply using the term "real time" in the title to describe the contents of the video. Real Times Studios responded, telling Jaze Cinema that they own FNaF: In Real Time, and once again told them to stop monetizing the video.

Jaze Cinema tweeted their response to the "real time" allegations, which is the tweet below. Real Time Studios retweeted it, and stated the same thing they had told Jaze Cinema, as well as tweeting the DMs from above.

Kane Carter then commented on the tweet featuring the DMs, telling Real Time Studios that they don't own the "Five Nights at Freddy's" brand or name. Real Time responded by stating that while they do not "possessively" own their game as an original product, they still do not want videos using the term "real time" to "set up false expectations for fans." Kane responded yet again, telling them that they can't just lie to a Youtube channel simply because it features "real time" in the title.

Real Time Studios has not yet responded to Kane.

It's a shame that this situation had to happen. I was really looking forward to FNaF: In Real Time, and I still am, but I can't help but feel weird thinking about the game now. I'm not making this as an attack against the entire Real Time team; this is clearly the work of a single individual on the team. So, if anyone from Real Time Studios is reading this, then I would like you to know that I respect your work on the game. I hope you will be able to continue work on it, and I wish you the best of luck, because the animations are fantastic.

I just don't understand why someone would do this? They clearly know their argument is pointless, yet they still fight people tooth and nail on it. And why do this right after the game had received a huge boost in popularity thanks to Youtubers like Fusionzgamer and Dawko covering it? Is this their way of showing their gratitude?

Thank you for reading, and I hope this situation is able to be put out before it goes out of control.

We didn’t include these in the extras, so here are some (very cursed) concept sketches of the ghost kids, as well as a few storyboards for the cutscenes!
