Hey, I'll keep this short and cut to the chase.
Recently I've made the decision to pull the plug on FNaW: They're Alive for multiple reasons, those of which I'll go over now.
I'm just not really feeling the project anymore, I don't feel any obligation to finish it and even though I'm proud of what we did with it the project had no clear direction and it definitely showed.
Deluxe is right around the corner! Given that's a much better remake that's basically doing the exact thing TA strived for, that's another reason to not go through with it since TA technically already exists.
During development I got a lot of people saying "this is what FNaW should be like" which REALLY put me off from working on it. I started this project to get people to appreciate the mixed media style of the original games, not to make people start devaluing the original games and deluxe by saying this is ""how it should be"" when all I'm doing is the exact same method Deluxe is doing but with a different program.
I know it boils down to opinion, but it made me feel like I'm fueling a bias against the original games that I've really tried to fight against and I will not forward that bias any further.
So yeah, FNaW: They're Alive is uh, well to put it bluntly they're dead.
However, the game itself... isn't.
What do I mean by that? Well it's pretty simple, even though I don't want to remake Wario's anymore I'm still OVERWHELMINGLY happy with the gameplay concept I came up with for it, so instead of scrapping the whole project I'll be reworking the gameplay for it into something that means 10x more to me personally! I've already made a good amount of progress on it, and I'm excited as hell to show off where the project will be going in the future.
TLDR: Five Nights at Wario's: They're Alive has been scrapped but its gameplay is being recycled into another project I've been wanting to do since 2018 as I feel that's a better investment for the gameplay I've come up with for it among other reasons.
More news to come in the future!! -Evelyn/Steak
