Hey guys, while development has not resumed yet and I'm still working hard to finish off finals, there's something I think is necessary to address as soon as possible.
As you know, Five Nights at Sonic's: Greenlit is...at its core...a Five Nights at Freddy's fangame, but I never saw it as that. It is more of a Sonic (& Mario) and/or Five Nights at Sonic's fangame to me, and there's a reason why: FNaF itself is in ruin.
These recent years really put FNaF into a downhill state, especially when you look at its community. Never have I seen a space on the internet more toxic, unforgiving, and downright worth avoiding than the FNaF community. Very recent events (the PinkyPills controversy and the Talbert Files incident) made me consider if I should even bother calling my work a FNaF fangame...
After giving it some thought, I am officially done with FNaF itself. It is a dumpster fire that will only get worse thanks to an insufferable community that the very creator can't even quell, and can sometimes end up making things even worse. The community doesn't deserve anything anymore, and thus, FNaS Greenlit will no longer be referred as a FNaF fangame. I will also clear any legitimate association with FNaF from my game (the title will remain the same though) and refer it only as a FNaS and/or Sonic the Hedgehog fangame. You can still call it a FNaF fangame, but some sacrifices must be made. There's no point in delaying this decision when I know things will only get worse in that hellscape.
Over the years, I've grown way more attached with FNaF fangames than FNaF itself. In fact, I was distancing more and more from FNaF. While I'm done with FNaF, I will always remain supportive of FNaF fangames and even the Fanverse! Thank you for reading and see you next post.
