The map: Part 6 - The triggers

Yay, the map is finished! The collisions are working, and I have fixed the speed. Now, the 2 remaining task is:

  • The triggers

  • The phone

From the title, you could guess, that I started working on the triggers.

Technical details. Skip if you are not interested in it.

What are the triggers? I’m glad you asked!
Since I’m making the game modifiable, so other people can make their fan games with it (later), I’m making the map system flexible, so you could create your own maps in notepad (not recommended). But, if you have played the game, then you know, that if you walk to a specific part of the map, something happens. For example a new map is loaded. Or a scene begins. Or someone attacks you. These are the triggers: something will happen if you go somewhere on the map. And these are stored in text files (so anyone can write one). And currently, I’m working on a piece of code, that takes that text in and creates the action!

End of technical details.

So, this might take a week or two (and with exams coming again maybe more), but still getting there. As I said a few weeks ago, the phone shouldn’t be that hard, since I made the most important things in the fight system. The map, fight and dialogue creation will take some time, but it will be the finish line.

See you next week!
