1993

Six years after Freddy's closed for the second time, it would re-open on November 1st with a smaller budget: similar to its first location, reprising the roles of the old cast with fresh new looks. Freddy's was back in business, and would be Henry's final attempt at running the show if all else failed.

The bodies within the animatronics having long since decomposed, the missing children were bound by their roles. For 8 long years they continued searching: never sleeping, always watching, and yet after all this time they never succeeded.

William, on the other hand, had different plans this time around. He put it together that one of them had to be the "ringleader" of their band, and went into hiding to think about what to do. He indirectly closed Freddy's twice, but what was to say it was all a chance of luck?

Plus, he was starting to loose weight from wearing the suit. He wasn't able to take it off or put it on without one accident here and there, with scars running all over his body.

Henry kept himself on high alert for when his old friend would strike again, worrying that he didn't prepare enough in advance or waiting for suspicious activity within the restaurant. All this time, everything he had prepared for, all the countermeasures he set up to prevent the mishaps that shut down his business was what resulted in the same outcome: death, dismemberment, dread.

But for the time being, everything seemed fine. No more suits, no more security systems, no more incidents, accidents, missing children cases, and especially no more William. Just a quiet, uneventful week at Freddy's with nothing out of the ordinary. For now, at least.

It wasn't until customers began complaining about a strong odor coming from the animatronics. When investigated by police and health officials, they found a combination of blood and mucus dripping from the eyes and mouths of the characters.

Following the investigation, Henry was slammed by the health administration for violating several guidelines and was threatened to be shut down by the end of the year. At this point, it was what he expected.

Ultimately, since he distanced himself enough for the company to take over the franchise entirely, he quit the business altogether, leaving Fazbear Ent. to their own devices. This was the last straw for him, and he ended up pulling the shortest of the bunch.

At this point, the company rolled out the red carpet for another late-night security guard position, bringing the attention to the now 27 year-old Michael Afton. Technically he was 13 years of age, accounting for his brother's spirit, whom he began celebrating his birthday with every year, despite his joggy memory from 10 years ago.

He owed it to him, after all.

image.png

To avoid attention, he goes under the alias "Mike Schmidt," and gets hired as a night guard from 12 - 6 AM. He was issued a "security logbook" for employees as activity books to pass the time. For the time being, he pockets it and trudges on throughout the week, accompanied by Andy over the phone.

image.png

The week before he even stepped foot inside the building, Charlotte returned for the final time, spanning over the course of the week. Every night, right before closing, she would slither out of her hiding spot and comfort the children: encouraging them to "do the right thing," that "it has to be him this time."

image.png

Because Michael shared a similar appearance with his father, the spirits outright mistook him for William: proceeding to make haste with every chance they had. Say for Cassidy, who was the only one aside from the main cast that saw just a glimpse of David within his brother's eyes.

She took her leave and possessed herself into the book, under their noses, as she was determined to learn the truth so she could relay everything to the others. Because William never set foot in Freddy's for the first time, there weren't any mirages spread out throughout the building.

The only hallucinations Michael experienced were from Cassidy's spirit bound to the book, under his knowledge, as she kept trying to send a message to her friend in hopes of reaching him:

image.png

Despite this, he trudged on, until November 11th where Andy made his last phone call before being mauled by Freddy and his crew, leaving him alone for the last 2 nights and the weekend.

image.png

Surviving the rest of the week up until his termination, Mike attempts to free the spirits of his former friends to no avail, as he was caught red handed and promptly fired. By then, Freddy's had already closed it's doors: leaving it to rot.

Both Mike and Dave left Freddy's for what felt like the final time, unless if they saw another flyer in the paper or wherever their father ended up next. But for now, their work was done, and it was time to rest. It wasn't until one month later in December that William returned to finish the endless cycle and putting his victims to rest–forever.

image.png

Taking them out one by one, Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, all of them, only for them to be free from their cages and corner him in the safe room. Everyone except Cassidy, with Charlotte taking her steed, confronting the monster for the first time in a long while.

It didn't matter who was there or who wasn't, there were dozens of victims of his that he had long since forgotten. Cornered and nowhere else to run, he hid in his trusty springbonnie suit: his signature appearance.

The building had become old, and the weather was terrible, leaving cracks in the ceiling big enough for the pouring rain to slip inside: just like that August night. With his laughter coupled with the rain outside, the locks activated as they had before, but this time it was fatal.

image.png

It was fatal enough for him to bleed out, satisfying his victims enough to rest, knowing the monster had been slain, and he wouldn't be going anywhere to do any more harm in the world. He laid there, falling into a coma for a year or two until Charlie would come crawling back to find out what happened to her father.

All of this was just the beginning of Freddy's slow, painful burn of a horrifying history. If anything, William always came back.

To be continued... in FNaF: Part II!
