It was a cold morning like usual, her father was probably chopping trees like usual, everything was usual.
Except for the strange feeling of not being in her own skin.
She was in a cave, that in a way she didnt fully understand, felt like her home.
Her body was tired and shaking.
The rest werent around, it seemed like they had gone hunting, it reminded her of her father.
She stood up and walked to the exit of the cave, looking around, spotting the same trees, same rocks and same river she always sees every morning.
As she walked back inside, the voice of her sister rumbled through the rocky walls.
— Aloide — she said. — youre awake, i expected you to sleep all day.
She walked up to her and sat down in the matress of feathers, leaves and fur covering part of the ground.
Aloide sat down next to her.
— it hurts too much — she said gripping the bandages in her arm tightly.
— i know it does, you gotta be strong- —
— how can you know if you havent allowed them to bite you? Werent you on our side here, Aveline? — her voice got louder with each word.
— i know because its a bite, it bleeds and ive bled too, ive been biten, the fact that its turning you into something you arent its what i dont know about — her voice carried a hint of disgust.
— it is what i am, its me in my purest form and you will see once its done. — she said standing up.
— Aloide wait, you cant go now, you have to recover — Aveline stood up too.
— then you go, go back home and take care of them while i wont be able to. — small tears formed rivers in her rough skin. — and once its safe, come find me and bring me back home. —
Aveline stood still for a moment before sighing and nodding.
— fine, i will go, but i will come back as soon as i can. — and then, without another word, she walked out in direction to the village.
Aloide watched as she walked away before falling to her knees and letting out a cold gasp as her teeth slowly turned into sharp knives made to rip off flesh she didnt want to hurt.
