These Phat Lootz

I finished adding a loot system to the game. Each enemy will have a loot table for the four currency types in the game (i.e. Gold, Gem, Repair Kit, and Supply Kit). The loot system will be the main source for player income. These currencies can be used to purchase various in-game items such as maps, cart skins, etc. The supply kit can be used to replenish the supply stocks, while the repair kit can be used to repair your cart, in other words, heal. The aforementioned actions can be done while inside the War Room.

Can’t remember if I’ve explained this before, but basically, the “War Room” will serve as an intermission between a set number of waves (I’m thinking 10). It will allow the player to regroup by doing repairs and resupply. It should also allow the player to review the enemies encountered so far, change cart skins, etc. This will also be a checkpoint, so if the player ever quits the game, it can be continued from the war room, with all the score, currencies, and power ups in place.

I’m still trying to balance the loot amount and drop rate, because it should be different for each enemy type. Obviously, repair kits must be dropped by Engineer or Tinker gnomes at a higher rate than the others.

Unlocking maps is now in the game, and it will remember the maps you have unlocked. The game will also save your best score and wave for each map, and will be shown in the “Map Select” screen.

Here’s an updated gameplay video that features the loot system. Watch as these pesky gnomes drop dead on the ground!

I'm starting on a new level (Dark Forest), but before I dress it up I need to make sure it plays good, so I start by laying out the paths using wireframe tilesets. #gamedev

Made some adjustments to the boss AI so that the fight is more strategic, less spammy. This is meant to be the first boss encounter. What do you guys think?

Title Screen Here’s the new title screen for the game. It shows a bunch of gnomes stealing from your barn! I think this gives the player a sneak peek of the gameplay. Also it’s better than a static drawing, in my opinion.

I thought I had move on...but Google Play warned me to update my app to support the latest Android version or else it would be taken down. Now I have new gameplay ideas so I decided to make another update. Coming to Gamejolt soon!

Concept design for the Dark Forest level. #gamedev

Title Screen v3

Started prototyping the Player Assist feature. With a press of a button you can summon party members that will perform their special attacks. I know it looks like Ender Lillies but my inspiration was the Marvel vs Capcom games.

Player Assist work in progress. Close, long, and mid range attacks. #gamedev #godstear #madewithunity

War Room - Background

Update 1.1.8c is out now. With this I have optimized the game to take up around 300mb of RAM. Hopefully this eliminates all those ANRs and crashes! Check it out: https://tinyurl.com/2s43rhk8
