So, I had an interesting conversation with @MikyDrawssOfficial about the proposal (here it is, for the more curious: https://gamejolt.com/p/item-idea-enemimic-ball-cheesy-name-i-know-gj-grin-wjijw36i), and it got me thinking. What exactly are the enemy moves, all of them? Turns out, I initially thought the Enemimic as a toned down Mirror Barrier, but I was wrong. So wrong.
It's like a distant cousin, but it's got some pretty interesting uses in specific cases which the Mirror Barrier doesn't have (because it only mirrors damage). They are connected to the mimicked move. These are the ones that came to mind after thinking about it (I'm not putting pure damaging moves here, Mirror Barrier covers those too. I'm not placing Alarm, but don't forget it does 9999 * 5 damage total, even with Enemimic! By having Auto: Shield on, you can mirror all damage without receiving any yourself!):
UNSCREW: do you realize that the enemy Unscrew hits one character, but has 100% chance of success? Do you realize Enemimic would insta-kill whatever character uses it? This is why I made the post. I realized this can happen
JUMPSCARE: this is interesting. Enemimic would act as a counter Jumpscare to the enemy. This would allow you to switch to Team 2 and keep dealing damage for 5 to 14 seconds without enemy damage, guaranteed. That's much more effective than a common Jumpscare, plus it's effective at keeping the enemy at bay, especially bosses
SNOWBALL: do you realize that this is an overpowered move to use? It's completely luck based, but it could deal from nothing to significant damage to practically all the damage needed. Enemimic will replicate that attack back: this would be a huge helping hand!
EDIT: Snowball is a damage move only, yes, but the damage inflicted against the enemy would be different since it's random. The amount of randomness is overwhelming, however, so a weak Snowball against you might mean an incredibly powerful one against the enemy
ESC KEY: another huge move. The enemy version has a 50% chance of dealing 5000 damage to the target. That's a lot of damage. It's like an Update 2 move, a toned down Slasher of sorts
Gloom: the enemy version negates Stat boosts, Gift Boxes and Neon Walls. If enemies have stat boosts and all the sort, this is basically a stat resetter for both sides. Otherwise, it's useless
Toxic Bite: one of the more uneventful moves, but it also poisons the enemy, so I guess there's that. It works like the one we're used to
WATERHOSE: devastating move against bosses, but the enemy version works like the version we're used to: insta-kills all characters with health under 30%. This could be great to clear otherwise difficult bosses, when that little bit of health still remains
Hot Cheese: this isn't a pure damaging move: it applies hot cheese, which then damages in turn. A little like Toxic Bite. It's pretty weak, to be fair
For reference, these are the enemies which have the more interesting moves (bosses in bold, didn't consider Toxic Bite and Hot Cheese here):
UNSCREW: Eyesore, Overclock, Supergoon, Tombstack
JUMPSCARE: Auto Chipper, Bouncer, Bubba, Chipper's Revenge, Jangle, Neon, P. Goon, Redbear, Snowcone, White Rabbit
SNOWBALL: >>>>>>, Chipper's Revenge, Jangle, Meringue, Neon, P. Goon, Snowcone
ESC KEY: Blacktrap, Chipper's Revenge, Jangle, Neon, P. Goon, Snowcone, Supergoon, Tangle
Gloom: Boxbyte, Graveweed, Mad Endo, Rot, Seaweed,
WATERHOSE: Chipper's Revenge, Colossal, Dogfight, Jangle, Neon, P. Goon, Seagoon, Snowcone
Do you realize 2/3 bosses guarding the buttons have Unscrew, alongside some bosses guarding the chests (Eyesore)?
Look at Jumpscare, Snowcone, Esc Key and Waterhose: usually these are all together in the same enemies, with a few exceptions. All Geist Lair enemies (but not the boss) have these moves. This would be then an excellent counter to them! Chipper's Revenge also uses them, making it a great tool against him too!
The best part is that we don't even have all the enemies yet. We only have a part of them. We don't know what special moves the ones to come will have! This might have to be considered a Red Chip however, because this can be used effectively against various enemies, with wildly varying degrees of success.
So... what do you think? Is it as overpowered as I'm starting to think or have I perhaps blown things out of proportion? I'm curious to know
