Today, along with the usual mascot introduction, we're going to meet a couple of support characters.

Bio below. v

Vending Vance

Joined Game Jolt: 2013

Hobbies: Haberdashery

Dislikes: Counterfeiters

Bio: Vance is a game merchant who searches far and wide for only the finest goods. The word "schmooze" is not in Vance's vocabulary; he wins everyone over with his pure gentlemanly demeanor, not to mention his dapper headwear. He has two particularly loyal extraterrestrial patrons: Customer Carl and Consumer Candy. Both avid gamers, they can't wait to find out what Vance has in stock next! On Game Jolt, Vending Vance stays true to his name by helping indies deliver their paid games to a global audience.

Author's notes:

Vending Vance's bio is pretty self-explanatory, I believe, but in the second image, we get a little demonstration of Consumer Candy expressing a particular craving she's been having for a specific type of game, and Vance figures out just the right game for her. That illustration was created for Game Jolt's improved game recommendation system.

Customer Carl also shows up in another illustration, but... I wonder which one? Hmm...

Process of one of my Pikachu drawings. This is a perfect example of when I start losing myself in art land, but suddenly snap back to basics when I realize "Oh right, I have no time!" You'll see what I mean.

#GJAsks My fave enemy design in a game? I like a lot of them, but I'm quite fond of Bumpties from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Here's a little doodle of a silly flying Bumpty.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

This isn't really much to look at, but figured I'd post anyway, because why not. LOL I was just doing some mograph experiments with heavy distortion. Blender + Krita.

Happy Video Game Day!

July 8 is Video Game Day, a holiday that's obviously close to our hearts at Game Jolt.

Celebrate by completing our quests! They won't be around long, so get the rewards while you can.

Snagged a moment to play through the demo of Aim! Kirby's Spring Shot by @THE_INFINIVERSUM last weekend. Wanted to play it as soon as I saw it. Had fun!

This was version 2.0.1โ€”new content has been added since.

Got 'em all, yay!

By the way, @StuntmAEn_Bob made a community specifically for 1-bit art. Would be awesome to see more activity there.

@ryon is a Jolter to Watch, game dev, programmer, and artist who worked on Five Nights at Friedrich's! Follow @ryon before the quest ends on July 15 and you'll get Coins!

This background was made in Blender with a little optimization and colour tweaking in Krita.

I really like making minimal designs that call back to 80s/90s "future" mographs you might see on PC monitors and other displays in movies/animations.
