Tomorrow I want to add an event.

An in-game event, I mean. Something that happens. Right now, what is there really to do? Youc an walk around, turn your lighter on and off and enjoy watching the reflection of the light gleam off of the glossy TV…. but that’s only fun for about three seconds!

Anyways, I’m sitting here, pretty tired, and feeling like typing, so I might as well. I want to implement one of the first scenes that will happen in Project_Light: When you get inside the house, and approach the hallway, —you’ll hear a loud banging noise coming from the bathroom door.

Now, by just looping a string of sounds, and I think this is realy interesting, I’ve already accomplished so much. Think about it:

  1. Now you have a goal. Naturally, you will ask yourself: “Who’s that in that room? Why are they there? Did somebody put them there?”, so to find out, you’ll want to open the door and communicate with them.

  2. I’ve made you curious. I’ve already triggered some amount of emotional inestment, which means once you discover exactly what’s going on with this door, I’m going to get an emotional reaction.

  3. I’m pushing some story information onto you. I don’t think this needs to be explained any further.

I think it’s really cool that so much can be accomplished with such a simple task. I’m excited to get it implemented tomorrow, and hopefully upload a build of the game with it, plus some other refinements and additions that I’ve already added; for example: the kitchen coutners now have doors that you can open and close to your own amusement for hours and hours!

Hi everyone! I started to create some environment props for my new video game, here is a cozy house in the forest. I'm planning to switch from Unity to Unreal... Let's see what new challenges I have to face. Made in Blender and Substance Painter.

I worked so hard to get all four of them to the end safely, but then...
