Hi,
How did we even get here? "The Endurance" is finally out and it was an absolute blast watching so many people react to my ~7 years of work. Some people love the difficulty, some people hate it. And I can see the argument on both sides. That's why I'm going to make some changes in that regard but I'll still proceed carefully not to overdo it the other way.
Watching other people play made me realize a lot of things I did wrong. For instance, there's literally no visual feedback to SCP-1048. Documents practically copied from SCP Wiki weren't any better either, and A CERTAIN SECRET THING is too hard to figure out in such a demanding environment.
And also there's the elephant in the room... The main ending route has no explanations whatsoever. That's probably my biggest mistake. I'll see if there's something I can do, but it may be 1.0.2 or even 1.0.3.
Anyhow... I'll work my way toward correcting all errors in the coming days. Releasing a game to the public is quite a new experience for me so I've got to improvise, adapt and overcome.
Please keep the feedback coming, I'm reading whatever I can and will try to do my best to make this game a more pleasant experience. Thanks <3
TO GET THE NEW UPDATE YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD THE GAME AGAIN, SORRY :(
Patchnotes may contain spoilers. I tried to maneuver around them as best I could though.
v1.0.1
BUGFIXES:
- Fixed a bug where A CERTAIN SECRET THING's power levels were way too low (now it's around 90%-100% instead of 50%-60%, as it should always be, I'm so sorry)
- Fixed a bug where a certain paper in [REDACTED] could not be picked up
- Fixed a bug where Enter would send a command on PC while being out of the monitor
- Fixed a bug where death to the abyss would not count
- Fixed a bug where a note would stay on screen after being jumpscared (Uhh not quite there yet, but they should return to their place... I think...)
- Fixed a bunch of bugs involving 860-2
- Fixed a bug where 079 would still be active after power outage - Fixed some typos
- Fixed a bug where the monitor would stay on top of GameOver screen
- Some people encountered a 0x0 resolution window upon startup. While loading the main menu the game will now detect if the resolution is too low and try to set it back to the default 1600x900. Hope that fixes it for some folks.
- Removed Paweł
CHANGES:
- A CERTAIN SECRET THING is now available in all nights so there's a calmer place to figure it out
- A CERTAIN SECRET THING and that specific night got rebalanced a tiny bit
- Time to react to 860-2 by the door before it gets locked has been increased slightly: 2.5s-5s -> 3.5s-5s, but now scales with AI and can go down to min 2s on very high levels
- Breathing of SCP-860-2 by the door is now a bit louder and sometimes has an additional sound cue
- Portals of SCP-106 are now much louder
- SCP-1048 can now be seen in the corridor without a flashlight, is faster now but needs less flashlight power to deal with it. I hope his presence will become much clearer.
- Added 5s to the cooldown of ventilation so you can accomplish more before it heats up again.
- Lowered difficulty on Night 2 and Night 3
- Adjusted difficulty on Night 4
- You can now exit PC monitors by pressing the ESC key
- ESC key now properly takes you one step back from every place in the main menu instead of closing the game
- You can now press X again after putting PC to sleep to wake it up.
- Icons indicating flashlight and sleep mode have been added to UI (This changes UI on cameras as well but not too much)
- Mouse adjustments in [REDACTED] are now under brackets -> "[" and "]"
- Removed some characters from the pool used to generate passwords to prevent some bad bad bad bad bad words. Some of you will be happy that wonky "2" also isn't there anymore.
- Leaderboards scrolling has been fixed and expanded to 100 player scores
- Since this patch, custom night scores will obtain additional info about the run (date, SCPs AI, game version, and if 6 AM has been reached) and will display these pieces of information in a dropdown menu under each score. Any runs before v1.0.1 sadly won't have this data.
