Update ver. 09-05-2023


What you see here is a proper stage test. I'm working with SSB Ultimate Battlefield at the moment. Just a heads up, the first few playable build releases of Super Smash Bros. Feud will feature this stage. I do have a final NEW Battlefield design in mind, but until I build/model/etc. it, this will be the stand-in, or the placeholder. Same for Final Destination. Edges and floor collisions are up and running. Before I add the soft platforms, I want to extensively test stuff here.

Lighting is VERY WIP / early. I may have to make a new shader for some of the stage's elements, especially as some have multi-layer textures.

I notice slight performance dips when playing on here, I'll have to optimize my code... Oh well. Or maybe my GPU and memory are being weird.

Anyway, I'm also adding a "controls" screen to my menu. It's early right now, but I'm going to add press events to it that show you which button you press, like the graphic icons will react. Like, if you press A, A will be highlighted on the controller.

Next up, I'm considering adding C-stick tilts, like Ultimate has, and I will add the Dash attack on C-stick when running. Controls-wise I fixed a bug that made the fighter stuck in place after holding a button at the end of a jab, stuck in the final frame of the jab animation. It was caused by an unnecessary "check if A button is released" check when transitioning back to Idle, so it was unable to go back to Idle if the player has A pressed, like, after missing a 2nd jab or holding A too late for the looped jab. I'm working on a similar issue when holding dash during a RunBrake.

Turn grab animation has been implemented. I might work on grab and throws, just to test out collisions!

I also made root motion a little more accurate on animations that use it, like the Up Special for instance, that moved up far too high.

Finally, I can't figure out how the shield animation steering works so I think I've found a workaround!
