Version 0.3.0 Release Devlog!

So my little joke about disappearing whenever I show signs of life was beginning to come true, as I posted that update 4 days ago… oops.

Well, consider this a little belated Christmas present, alright?

Changes:

  • Added the day counter. Instead of increasing up by one every 24 minutes, it now increments up every 2 minutes and 40 seconds.

  • Added a survivor counter. I don’t know why I didn’t have this before, but now you no longer have to dig into your save file just to find out how many survivors you have!

  • Debug info. I’m really hesitant to even call it “debug,” but it is values that the game uses behind the scenes, so if you want to figure out how things work, or help me fix hidden bugs, just hit your F1 key, and see the numbers come up! (The FPS counter is part of them.)

  • An options menu. Since I first proposed the menu, I’ve made some minor additions to it. First, you can set your frame limit, and set your window size! If you have a high resolution monitor, 2x size should be the best for you. If you have a smaller one, then 1x size (the default) will work just fine.

  • When you look for survivors, you have a chance of losing them. I’m not sure why I made it so that you would always get survivors when you attempt to look for them. No risk-reward element there. So, instead of having a chance of getting 1-3 survivors, you have a chance of getting those 1-3 survivors, and losing 1-3 survivors. This makes it so that getting survivors isn’t too quick as well, which is a nice bonus.

  • Sounds! Although there’s only one sound effect at the moment, and it’s an edited sound effect grabbed off the internet, I find that it goes a long way into making what you’re doing in-game more satisfying.

  • Changed “Door Strength” meter to say “Barricade Strength.” Just makes more sense with the new graphics.

  • New Graphics! Self-explanatory.

  • The game version has reverted from a 1.0 version numbering scheme to a 0.x.y. numbering scheme! I didn’t feel that there was enough in the game to make it seem as though it was a full 1.0 release.

Well, that’s all! Hope you enjoyed this update. Until next time,

SomeGameDeveloper, Signing off.

not the greatest house, but it's a house! :D

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
