Voodoocide: Powerups


Voodoocide will feature a modest set of powerups the player can find scattered around the world. These include the Triple Shot, the Roll Shield, the Infection Timer Booster and the 2x Blood Point Multiplier.

The Triple Shot is what it sounds like, for the price of 1 BloodStone, the player can fire a spreadshot of 3 BloodStones in a single throw.

The Roll Shield is a protective membrane that appears for half a second during a roll. This membrane reappears with each roll until an enemy BloodStone is successfully deflected off the player on contact, producing additional BloodStones that can be collected and added to the player’s arsenal. It’s tricky to pull off, but get the timing right and you collect extra ammunition for your journey, as well as save yourself from becoming a victim of an enemy’s infection.

The Infection Timer Boost id a dual action powerup. It both reduces the difficulty of the player’s struggle when trying to remove an enemy infection, and extends the length of an enemy infection time when the player hits them with a BloodStone, making it easier to activate a trap before they break free.

The 2x Blood Point Multiplier simply multiplies the payout of Blood Points ( the currency needed to win the game ) given for each trap activation. Seeing as each trap already multiplies the amount of Blood Points you receive by how many enemies you kill in one suicide, this can really add up and getting this power up can be a key strategy. It is worth noting each time a suicide is performed on a particular trap type, the payout decreases, so players are encouraged to diversify their deaths and get creative in order to maximize Blood Point payout. It is also worth noting that getting infected and then KILLED by an enemy will remove HALF your collected Blood Points on each revival, so the more you are killed, the HARDER IT WILL BE TO EVENTUALLY WIN THE GAME!
