Been working here and there on this game, as much as I could. Today, I managed to lock the first three levels and decide that it would become the first “demo” of the game. The three first levels are fully functional. There might be some bugs, for sure, but the distribution that is up now is a taste of what’s to come. This is the first version of the game that actually feels like what it’s supposed to be. I still have to polish certain aspects and add more features. But for now, enjoy vs. CPU DEMO 1.
What has changed?
For performance and playability I limited the number of bullets that can be shown on screen. Made the difficulty more balanced and the game more accessible. Player can move with ARROWS or WASD. He can also AIM with the mouse starting in level two. All in all, I polished what was really wrong with the game and cleaned most of the code. Restarted the score system and added some different factors : the time, the bullets shot by the enemy and the enemies that the user has killed. As a penalty, every time the player dies he will lose 500 points of his total score. This last part has not yet been implemented… I’m trying to be nice.
This is my first game, as I said in the first news but I feel like I’ve learned quite a while by making it. This version is pretty exciting, it’s starting to look like I imagined it! I hope I made a challenging and engaging game that people will enjoy.
Try the game and leave your comments and feedback. Have fun!
P.S : I will be fixing the bugs as I find them. The next step is adding level 4 and 5. I will also start incorporating more of a plot-driven story that will make the game and its atmosphere more interesting.
