Wasted Time

Hey everyone, it’s been a while.

I didn’t mean for it to be so long since I’ve done anything with Starfire, at least publicly. I decided to give myself about a week to recuperate after the launch, which might have ended up being my undoing because the rest of my life took the chance it had and got rediculous.

In terms of gamedev stuff, I did come back when I planned on returning (a week after launch), but the project I decided to undertake was a complete waste of time. I was trying to get XML integrated into the core communication between the main menu and the game itself, and lets just say that I’ll have to dedicate MUCH more time/frustration to that at a later date in order to get it to where I want it to be.

In terms of what I’m planning, I’m working diligently now on getting the Motherships up and running, but I am wondering as to how/if the ships should be interacting in the scene. I know they will at the very least work as spawn zones that have defensive turrets (thus creating a safe spawn area for bots) but I was wondering as to whether or not the motherships should have any role in victory/defeat, as they did at the very beginning, or if they should just remain as glorified, fancy spawn zones.

At the moment, I am leaning towards keeping them as fancy spawn zones, since making them an objective/target means that I have to implement a lot of other things into the new system in order for it to work properly, which, frankly, I don’t want to do. For now, I want to keep focusing gameplay on the starfighters themselves, and save mothership combat for a later time.
