We've gotten some questions about the finer details of #SummerJam2021 - and have put together an FAQ for all our wonderful Jammers!

  1. How do we sign up for the jam?
Pretty simple really. You don't have to pre-register or sign-up anywhere else, just be a part of this community, and submit your game to the jam when you are ready!

  2. Is the a Sign-up Fee?
Nope! This game jam is completely free for participants!

  3. When does the Game Jam Start and End?
The submissions for the jam started on the 25th of June 2021, and final submission time will be on the 8th of August 2021 at 2359 CEST (GMT + 2) . Since there is no pre-registration, the cut off date is at the end of the submission period.

  4. Must we be in Sweden?
As this is a IGDA Sweden digital game jam, at least ONE (1) of your team members must be a registered resident in Sweden for your game to be eligible for the awards.

However, you are free to participate in the jam even if you are not a registered Swedish resident and do not have a team mate who fulfills that requirement - you just won't be eligible for the awards and prizes. It'll still get you views from the judging panel though

  5. Can we be part of multiple teams?
    Yes!

  6. Can we have a mixed team of Rookies and Veterans?
Yes! Just make sure that the average working experience of the team is under 12 months if you want to be considered under the Rookies category
eg. In a team of 5, one member has 2 years of Experience and the other four have 6 months of experience each. The average in this case would be 9-ish months each , so this team would qualify as rookies.

  7. What if I don't have a team?
You can either join as a solo developer, or post a #SelfPromo in the Find Your Team channel . You can also look for team members on our Discord.

  8. How should we approach the theme?
Anyway you want! As long as if asked you can explain how your game fits the theme. There is no real "formula" on how to make sure your game fulfills the theme. Go nuts!

  9. Is there a limitation / restriction of what game engines we can use?
Nope! Do what you feel comfortable with!

  10. Can we use pre-made assets that we purchased / downloaded?
Yes - however, depending on what pre-made assets are used, you would not be eligible for prizes from certain categories.

  11. Who are the judges going to be?
We are announcing the judging panel over the course of the jam, so do pay attention to the Announcements channel!

  12. What happens to our submissions after the jam?
You and your team own full-rights to the game you have submitted, and any agreements made with publishers will be at your discretion and subjected to those terms. IGDA Sweden has no rights to your production, but may request for screen shots or graphics for promotional purposes.

We will be updating this post over time, as we get more questions from you! So keep an eye out!
