A bit of history and development plans
Hi there!
When we were kids, we would play our favorite video games for hours. We grew up, but nothing has practically changed – we still enjoy our hobby. Just like you do, we have a list of favorite games. Among them is FTL. It seems, only yesterday we played it after classes, however, ten years have passed. We waited for the sequel, but, unfortunately, the authors announced there wouldn’t be one. And that’s how we decided to make a dream game ourselves. We’ll try to make the perfect sequel, keeping the best and adding things that were missing.
This is our first project, and it boasts everything we love about gaming and want to share with you and the new generation of gamers. All this includes stories of spaceship captains, the most amazing places in the Universe, cool spaceships, blasters/lasers and battles, our own music and exploratory spirit. We’d like you to feel like a captain rather than a ship. We’d like you to write your own space story as part of the Trigon: Space Story Project.
Development Story.
The idea to create our own computer game first appeared in May 2019. So, we got an inspired team together, and on August 28, 2019 the five of us kicked off the implementation in a specially-designed studio. It took us 3 months to assemble a prototype that was to be showcased at DevGAMM gaming conference in Minsk, Belorussia. Both players and publishers welcomed the project. Such support encouraged us to go on with the project on full scale.

(In November 2019 the game was represented by one fight only and 2D grahics.)
We invited two more people to our development team and assembled the alfa-version by June 29, 2020.

(It was 3D now, and by the time of the alfa-version, there was one sector to move around and a possibility to improve the ship, as well as one quest with variable endings.)
These days we can say that the Early Access version is ready. With it, you will enjoy our generated Galaxy, some quests, rich arsenal, and your own space story. Though, there is still a lot to do about the balance and some scheduled tasks. I’m going to introduce you to the plan now.

(The game in the Early Access as of February 4.)
We would like to publish this Early Version to be able to gather such enthusiastic people as you are – space fans, lovers of science fiction and games – to continue the elaboration of this project together.
Here is what the present roadmap looks like.

1. Initially, the intended audience for this game was to consist of people acquainted with FTL. However, it turned out, that within these 10 years a great number of gamers grew up that are unfamiliar with this game. And it’s they who need an interactive tutorial. We’d like to have it in the form of a prologue to the game. You’ll be able to skip it or call it from the Main Menu at any time.
2. We plan to communicate with our players as much as we have time and resources. One of our major tasks now is proper balance. To polish the balance we need to gather some metrics. We’ll add game progress mechanisms, including unlocking of new ships, Steam achievements, to be able to track the depth of progress. Besides, it’s another place for some more references, nice designs, and magic of figures.
3. The next update will bring you a lot of new mechanics and change some current ones. We planned to create a free Universe exploration that would allow you to make your own decisions about the pace of your progress in the sectors. For those of you, who like to thoroughly prepare for a battle and peek into the most distant parts of the Galaxy, we’d like to add planets exploration, gathering and recycling of various resources. It’s not going to be grind for the sake of grind. We just want to create more planets, stories, and reasons to visit them.
4. The most important update is our new system of unit upgrade. We have finally found an ideal way to make your crew the key element of your adventure. And to make your units more personified and to your taste. It will definitely boost your emotions from the events happening to them and will bring some changes to the gameplay. We also plan to change specializations, add perk level-up tree, and lots of active abilities available for any unit.
5. The next upgrade will have to do with captains. Within the session you’ll face other captains. Some of them are easy to deal with diplomatically, others understand only the strong arm. At the station you will be able to find wanted lists of captains. You’ll be able to take up the bounty-hunting job, but be careful not to get onto the list.
6. Content Pack-2. The Universe is a large thing. And we’ll add even more locations, even more events and quests. New ships available for a player, new belligerent captains and ships. New armory and weapons. Unique units, with their own perks and abilities.
7. Localization. The renewed content localized into English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, Standard Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, and Japanese.
We are eager to make Trigon: Space Story a true ambassador in space rouge-like strategies. In the modern world, it is impossible to do without the contribution of the community. You are most welcome and appreciated to join and support the project.
P.S.
I still cannot give the exact release date, sorry. But we switched to working with weekly iterations, and all this time it benefits the build quality while we resolve issues with publishers.
I would be glad to receive your comments, ideas and wishes. And you can support us by telling your friends about the game.
