What really happened yesterday (read because this is a long asf post)


Well, many of you might be concerned about the real state of the port, first of all, it's NOT CANCELLED (but on hiatus). I'm going to try to explain what happened yesterday and why I made that post.

FULL VERSION (v1.6.4) DEVELOPMENT

Yesterday evening, the development on the full version of Ultra Custom Night for Android began. Originally I wanted to port the versions that went between 1.3.6 and 1.6.4, but I was too motivated that I wanted to port the full version straight.

I started coding the port at 5 PM and finished the development of it at 8 PM.

After 8 PM, the hell begun. I wanted to compile the apk in order to test what it could potentially looked like on my phone.

I present to every single one of you my worst nightmare when developing an Android port in Clickteam (image taken from Google as reference):

But JOTE, what the fvck does this mean?? Glad you asked, this means mainly one thing:

"An error with Android SDK (Android Studio) or JDK has ocurred"

I don't want to get into technical details on why this happens as there are many reasons for it, but sort of, most of the times it happens when you try to compile an apk file which targets a very old Android version (for example, Android 4.4), which has been deprecated over the time by a newer Android version like 16 (the current one).

But my error was different one from the common error, so...what exactly happened??

Well, after doing a Google research it turns out that no mater which Android APIs do I select, because a Clickteam Extension itself was causing the error, here's an image of the error log I was having:

It turns out the online API extension for Clickteam (called Lacewing) often conflicts with the SDK/JDK, so the solution I found was to remove this extension everywhere from the game. I'll try to do this as soon as I can so I'll keep you updated on the progress, don't worry.

OH, AND I'VE BEEN TRYING TO FIX THIS ISSUE IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS FROM 8 PM TO 10 PM, 2 FUCKING HOURS. SO YES, I SPENT 5 FUCKING HOURS NON STOP PORTING THIS F****ING GAME TO ANDROID JUST FOR IT NOT TO WORK, SOMEONE PLEASE FUCKING KILL ME.
