(before i start, please don't go harass any creators mentioned about this, especially jacorn. this is not a call out on them, and they didn't do anything to deserve being targeted. on that note, i mean no hate to any creators mentioned in this post. i wish you the best.)

Listen with your ear holes dear reader, as i take you back to about 3 months ago, fresh off (as in a couple months lmao) of the biggest gamejolt controversy, #gamejoltteaparty, a event that took the lives of a HANDFULL of creator badges and left gamejolt in a very negative light. thoro decided that it was the perfect time to ask the community for a favor.

what proceeded was one of the worst backfires in all of history, one that well surly be put in books and taught in schools, as the community decided to listen to thoro and give some real reviews from genuine users...

(if your curious about all the outrage and what the whole "#gamejoltteaparty" thing is, i highly suggest you look through posts in the hashtag, as well as posts made by @LuminanceProductions and @PhantronGames during the situation)

of course, gamejolt never acknowledged any of these reviews, and eventually reviews slowed down, the page went back to being reviews coming once in a blue moon, and people forgot about it.

except for me

i thought the whole situation was really funny, and enjoyed popping back in every once in a while to see if their score had somehow gotten lower (thoros post dropped the score down from 3.3 to a 3.0 in just 24 hours, and from there it slowly kept going lower). fast forward to February 11th, i was bored in 5th period and had nothing better to do, so i went to gamejolts trust pilot page to see where it was at.

it had bounced back up to 3.2. i was a little shocked to be honest. so i went to see the new reviews, and that's when i saw 8 back to back 5 star reviews.

odd, yes, but suspicious, hardly, there are some people there that really do love this platform (and all the power to them!). than i read the reviews, and that's when i caught something- 3 of the reviews had mentioned the creator program, and they talked about it like they had personal experience with the program as a creator.

huh.

now, if you would have shrugged this off and went about your day like normal, i wouldn't blame you, and i almost did too. but my gut told me I smelled fish, even if my nose hadn't quite picked it up yet. so i decided to take a look at the dates the reviews were posted to see if i could spot anything odd. then i noticed something. the reviews were all posted in a span of 4 days.

the room now reeked of fish

that may not SEEM to crazy at first, but let me remind you, this is a page that got very little interaction suddenly getting 8 5 star reviews in just 4 DAYS. to put into perspective how crazy that is, the 8 reviews before the 5 stars were posted in the span of 3-4 MONTHS. the only time that many reviews had come in before was when gamejolt asked the community for reviews. and then there was the fact that 3 of the reviews seemed to come from creators based on how they were worded. than i got thinking. is it possible that gamejolt was so upset about their review score on this random site on a page they haven't even claimed

that they reached out to creators in the hopes of bumping up their score?

cause if they did that would be very funny.

i had to dig deeper.

i looked up the usernames of all the reviewers, and after a TON of google searching, i was able to link 4 creators to 4 of the reviews

this one had me confused for a sec, as i kept keeping "save files" in my searches. but once i removed save files from my searches, i was able to find @DarkTaurus , whom I am fairly certain made this review, as they have stuck up for gamejolt in similar situations before (https://gamejolt.com/p/gamejoltteaparty-stay-clam-guys-let-s-talk-about-the-boost-pack-g6yvnxqb) (once again no hate)

come on. this ones obvious. @MidaGames . next.

this one may be obvious for those who know him, but apparently, i am not one of those people. i was able to recognize the PFP from his youtube channel popped up, and from there you get @ColesyGaming .

this one was probably the one i had the most trouble with (well aside from the ones i couldn't link to a creator), since his name here is different than his typical online username. however, a search of his name popped up his website, and from there i went to games, then a link to one of his gamejolt games, and boom badda bing we get @Jacorn , very nice.

at this point i had found that 50% of the reviews came from creators, but before we move on i have one more review i would like to show you, the one review that had me genuinely stumped.

Daniel, mysterious Daniel. you see, Daniel here mentions the creator program having a "more personal touch" (to quote the ever infamous twitch chat of Douglas Douglas, HUH), suggesting that they have experience as a creator, HOWEVER, even though i was 90% sure that this was a creator, i could never link daniel to a creator cause all i had to work with WAS THE NAME DANIEL. fun fact, if you look up "gamejolt daniel", your not gonna get the account of a creator. this is because, little known fact, daniel is an extremely common name! thus you alluded me this time daniel. well played.

ANYWHO, if you count daniel in the creator total, it comes out to 5/8 reviews being written by creators, giving them 63% of the 8 reviews.

and that's were i could have stopped, i had my theory, i had some good evidence, i had all that i needed to post it here (since my main is shadow banned, rest in pepperonis to @manthemanlol 's post engagement). but that wasn't enough for me. i wanted to search further, look deeper, ride this ship until i crashed and sunk, or, if was lucky, struck gold. but i was running out of options, so, i decided to reach out to one of the creators, @Jacorn , in their shouts to ask them some questions. they seemed pretty chill and likely to respond, but i was still a little nervous. what if he was secretly a gamejolt ninja and came to my house to rip me to shreds? what if he was secretly the doom guy and came to my house to rip me to shreds? what if he was secretly a shark and came to my house to rip me to shreds? what if he was secretly a train and came to my house to- well you get the idea.

so i waited. and then, some time later, i got a notification

oh.

wow.

uh... that was... surprisingly easy. huh.

I DID IT, I HAD FINALLY PROVED MY CONSPIRACY THEORY TO BE TRUE, GAMEJOLT CARED SO MUCH ABOUT THIS SCORE THAT THEY, UNABLE TO TAKE THE COMMUNITY REVIEWS THEY ASKED FOR, REACHED OUT TO CREATORS IN AN ATTEMPT TO BOOST THEIR SCORE!

obviously i was pretty excited to see a days worth a googling and theorizing come to fruition, but luckily, remained calm, composed, and, most importantly, mature.

and that's where this hunt for the truth ends. i wanna really quickly thank @Jacorn for being cool about my (lets be honest very random) questions, if not for you I'm not sure how long i would have went going insane trying to prove this. once again, and i cannot stress this enough, DO NOT harass anyone over my dumb conspiracy. was this hilarious and a little pathetic of game jolt to do? yeah. but its nothing to go hunt someone down over, especially these creators. no hate to anyone mentioned. any who, i hope yall will be able to go back to your lives somewhat normally now that this EARTH SHATTERING CONSPIRACY has been discovered.
