For the people who create Undertale fangames, what would be the best engine to use to create one? (Please give a reason why in the comments below please.)

I've been thinking about making a game that is based off of Dusttale, The Otherground, Undertale Yellow, and much more. It'll probably just be an idea or sketch stuck in my head though.

Anyone remember the original sonic.exe creepypasta from JC the Hyena? It's odd that people make sonic.exe games that take place of branching off the original Sonic universe.
