FAQs
Q: What types of / How many characters will be included in this game?
A: We are shooting for 90 characters. There will be plenty of third party characters including Mega Man, Ryu, and Ristar, and there is one bonus fourth party - Goku.
Q: Will X character make it into the game?
A: The game is currently focused on 3 types of characters.
The Resprites are characters in Crusade that need a new coat of paint to look more inline with the quality of the latest characters.
Newcomer Veterans are those characters we are aware people want that need to be done at some point (i.e. Zelda, Sheik, King Dedede, Diddy Kong, etc.)
Crusade Newcomers are fighters not seen in any official Smash game that we want to include.Q: What types of / How many stages will be included in this game? A: We are shooting for about 90 stages, which will include a variety of past stages (from 64, Melee, and Brawl) as well as original stages. Q: Will this game include online play feature? A: It already does! You can play with anyone from around the world in a matter of seconds. Q: What resolution does SSBC run in? A: 1280 x 720. However, v0.9 features the ability to change the resolution of the window if you have a slower computer. Q: Will there be NASL in SSBC? A: Edges have a significant sweetspot around them, mainly implemented to help out characters with shorter horiontal recovery.
The sweetspot is approximately the size of Kirby's body. Also, note that you will auto-grab an edge if you walk off or slide off of it while DI'ing towards the stage. Q: Can I do SHDJCFFL in SSBC? (lol) A: Not exactly. There is short hop fast-falling, and a variety of other techniques such as wavedashing and glide tossing.
There's no L-canceling, however the land lag of attacks is generally designed around the l-cancelled land lags of Melee high/top tier characters. Q: Will there be (insert random mechanic from other fighting game)? A: Unless you're talking about Super Smash Bros., then no. This game stays true to its Smash Bros. roots.
Exception: Street Fighter characters have been given a smash-friendly version of Street Fighter cancel techniques. Q: How many moves do characters have? A: Here is a full list:
Jab
Side, Up, and Down Tilts
Side, Up, Down Smash
Dash Attack
Get Up Attack
Ledge Get Up Attack
Neutral Air, Forward Air, Back Air, Up Air, Down Air
Grab
Pummel
Forward, Back, Up, Down Throw
Z-Air Attack (where applicable)
Neutral Special
Side Special (and Smash Special on a few characters, i.e. Samus's Super Missile and Ryu's EX hurricane kick)
Up Special
Down Special
Glide Attack (where applicable)
Final Smash Q: How much hitstun will attacks cause? A: It is an improvement over Brawl's hitstun but is slightly less than that of Melee. Combos are still plentiful, though, you've just got to find them. Q: Are there Final Smashes / How do they work? A: Yes, there are, but they do not require breaking a Smash Ball. Instead, your character has a Smash Gauge below the percent monitor that fills up as you pound the living tar out of your foes and at a slower rate when you take damage. When the Smash Gauge is full, it will flash and the words "FINAL SMASH!" will appear, allowing you to unleash an ultimate attack via the Special Move button. In the VS Settings you can disable Final Smashes.
