My name is Timothy Cobb, I'm a game design student at Fullsail University. I began doing game development shortly after leaving the Navy in 2018. I was doing small things like playing with terrain and figuring out how to make things do what I want them to do at this point in time I didn't think about school it was just a hobby.
June 20th, 2018
After spending the first few months trying to find a government job in Hawaii I decided it would better worth my time to just go to school. I called Fullsail and went through the process of applying for the game design program and eventually getting accepted to the school.
August 27th, 2018
This was my first day of school. I was nervous yet confident because I had spent the past two months on YouTube and Udemy learning more about Unity and C#. I saw this as the beginning of my career and have always treated it as such.
January 25, 2019
This was the second Game Jam I participated in, Global Game Jam. The first Game Jam was hosted by Extra Credits in which myself and two other individuals created the game Equine Escapades. For the Global Game Jam I was still new and quite nervous since this jam wasn't online but in person. The jam went great and I learned a lot in the process.
Post Global Game Jam
After my first Global Game Jam I decided I wanted to take what my discovered weaknesses were and work on them so I could be even better during the next one. Since then, with the help of school and my own personal research and development projects I've learned so much to the point I finally realized I would never know it all but that's what makes this so fun.
E3 Trip: June 2019
In June my wife decided she needed a vacation from work and argued that I was studying too hard and in need of a break so I brought up the idea to go to E3 and then to Ohio (Where I'm originally from) to visit family. I was hoping to learn some things from E3 but I learned shortly after that E3 isn't really like GDC (Which I plan to attend hopefully). I still took advantage of the trip and made some good conversation with indie designers who were kind enough to give me some tips and encouragement along my journey.
Seattle Trip: July 2019
Shortly after our E3 trip I convinced my wife to take another week off of work so we could visit Seattle. The goal of this trip was to get a feel for the area since it's where I hope to end up sometime after graduation. I met with a game designer who eventually accepted my request to be my mentor. I was able to take a tour of a game studio and take a look around which was really awesome.
Kid Adventures
After a long time of experimenting with projects and never completing them I decided it would be in my best interest to hone the most important skill to any developer. That skill is to finish a project and get it out there! I'm extremely nervous about it of course but as I mentioned before this is my career now and I will treat it as such. A good friend of mine has been helping me a lot over the past year and introduced me to Game Jolt. I hope this will be a really good tool to help pace me to complete my projects even if school is prying away some of my free time.

Here's a video of my submission for my level design class. I haven't had time to work on Kid Adventures but I have learned a lot during this class so I look forward to implementing what I learned here into Kid Adventures. :)
School just got interesting. Level design class is easy as it is but I don't really like using pro-builder. One of the things to get used to is the lack of creative freedom and limited access to available tools. :/
