Analog Boy @analogBoy
I'm an artist turned musician turned computer programming guy. I grew up in the D.I.Y. punk rock scene and it's that spirit that I find most compelling about the indie game dev scene. I always liked to draw when I was a kid, but once I got a little older I discovered punk rock and got carried away by it's raw, emotional intensity. The people in bands that I respected started as amateurs, like me. If they could stand on a stage and play their hearts out then I could do it too.
I was 13 when I played my first punk rock shows, punching our way through stunted sets of songs that were as earnest as they were ugly with topics ranging from girls, to food, to video games. We made bad art huddled in our parents' garages and pushed it out into the world without shame or fear of ridicule. If people laughed -- and no doubt they did -- it didn't matter. We made art for our own sakes.
That's where I take my inspiration from and it's that creative recklessness that I try to bring to my games.
