I was born and raised in the North East of England in a small city called Sunderland near the River Wear. I’ve had a passion for video games since the first time I was handed the NES Light Gun and Duck Hunt by my father at the age of 3. Since then I’ve moved from console to console playing everything they had to offer, but I’ll never stop going back to those classic games such as Super Mario Bros, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (nes) and Donkey Kong Country.

I’ve always had an interest in fiction from a young age, it didn’t matter where it came from be it video games, movies, books or audio plays. As a child I’d not dreamed of becoming a game developer as I’d spent a lot of free time imagining stories and worlds and plotting them down on paper. I’d always imagined my future as a fiction writer, this had almost driven me to taking a creative writing course at college.

On the path to game development
My education in computing began at the age of ten when I started secondary school and touched a PC for the very first time. It was fantastic, a world of opportunity and knowledge opened up in from of me. At this time I began to study web development lightly dabbling with html and javascript and then moving onto PHP.

This brief glimpse into web development set me on a path to IT in college where I studied a BTEC in IT Systems Support which focused mainly on Network design and maintenance but lightly touched upon web development and programming. One small two week assignment on developing a simplistic ticket management system in Microsoft Excel with VBA convinced me that Software Development was my future.

After graduating College I went onto a 3 year University course studying Multimedia games which introduced me to various programming languages (VB.Net, C#, AS2 and Java) and software engineering techniques.

Work Experience
I graduated University with a First Class Bachelor of Science degree and formed a software development team called File Under Media where I worked on 4 different game projects; A Meloncholy Tale, Melon Madness, Words of Wisdom and Onset Sero.

After working with File Under Media I moved onto freelance work creating various database applications and small games for external clients throughPeople Per Hour and Freelancer.

After working freelance for a fair amount of time I gained employment as a international game brander at Free Online Games Within a year I gained my own team and began work on maintaining and upgrading the flash and unity APIs.

The Future
I hope to gain more experience in game development by working on my own game projects which I’ll be documenting on this site.
