My 9 year old son and I have a theory that sloths, both the three and two-toed varietysm, aren't acutally moving slowly. It's simply and artifact of the time bubble surrounding them. Imagine a predator's surprise when, going in for the kill, their teeth freeze mid-chomp. The sloth glibly watching their eyes flit back and forth in confused terror as he slips away for a bite to eat.
