What is an adopt?:

An adopt is a design or original character that an artist creates in order to sell! Adopts can come in many different varieties. Once your offer is accepted by the poster, the character belongs to you!

Key phrases:

Terms of Service (TOS): These are rules that the seller specifies. Make sure to follow them!

Offer to adopt (OTA): Comment an offer for the character. The simplest form of adopts!

Bid to adopt (BTA): These characters can be purchased through Auction. Leave your bid in a comment, or reply to someone else's bid with a better one!

Draw to adopt (DTA): You must draw the character in order to win them. A winner can usually be decided based on the amount of art they make for the DTA and the overall quality of their art.

Write to adopt (WTA): Write a story about the character to win them!

Automatic buy (AB): This is an offer that is specified by the seller. If somebody makes this offer, they automatically win!

Raffle: The winner of a raffle is chosen by random chance.

Pay what you want (PWYW): The seller allows the buyer to choose how much the design is worth.

Hold: A character that is "on hold" is being saved for a buyer until they are able to pay.

Custom: A character that is designed based on somebody's specific requests

Looking for (LF): Designs, species, or themes that the poster is specifically looking for.

Free to use (FTU): Most commonly found on color palettes and bases. If something is FTU, you can use it for anything as long as you follow the creator's rules.

Toyhouse (TH): A website that people use to catalog their characters. A very popular place for adopts!

Rules:

1: Be kind and respectful to your fellow jolters! There is no need to fight over digital adopts.

2: Check and follow the TOS of anything you decide to use. Using bases or color palettes that you are not allowed to use will result in reports and the original creators will be contacted!

3. Do not sell designs that don't belong to you. Simple as that! Do not purposefully plagiarize designs or steal characters- Doing so will result in an automatic ban!

4. Report any scammers or suspicious activity you see to community moderators.
