The SCP Foundation: A secret global organization

The SCP Foundation is a clandestine organization that operates worldwide, endorsed by the major governments of the world. Its existence, along with the anomalous phenomena it handles, is kept a secret from the public. The Foundation's purpose is to preserve the “normalcy” of everyday life, ensuring that the human population can live without fear, mistrust, or doubt. 

The Foundation's moral ambiguity can vary drastically, from a benevolent but harsh protector to a ruthless, amoral prison warden for the paranormal. 

The Foundation's core goals: Secure, Contain, Protect (SCP)

The SCP Foundation's mission is summarized by its motto: Secure, Contain, Protect. 

Secure

The Foundation identifies, tracks, and intercepts anomalous objects, entities, and phenomena (“SCPs”) before they fall into the wrong hands or cause harm. This involves extensive observation and intelligence gathering globally. 

Contain

Once an anomaly is secured, it is contained to prevent its influence or effects from spreading. This is done through a variety of measures, including: 

• Relocating the anomaly to a secure facility.

• Concealing or destroying evidence of the anomaly's existence.

• Administering amnestic to anyone who has witnessed an anomalous event, erasing their memory. 

Protect

The ultimate goal is to protect humanity from the dangers of the anomalies, and to protect the anomalies themselves until they can be fully understood. For the Foundation, this protection also means maintaining the “veil” of secrecy that conceals their existence from the public.
