A classic PS1 (alone in the dark/silent hill 1 inspired) style survival horror game with fixed camera angles, and tank controls inspired by true history lived by real people where you play as one of the over 100 American soldiers being held as prisoners of war in conditions less than adequate for surviving one day let alone years of incarceration, and relocation, these prisoners of war were held captive well after the Revolutionary War's peace treaty was signed in 1783.
You're one of the many soldiers incarcerated in the ever-transient, and paranormally active Portchester Castle, a nexus for the prisoners of war to be divided among other locations of imprisonment elsewhere influenced by Britain overseas, the protagonist of this short true horror story must escape from their entrapment in the castle, and find a way back to America before you die in captivity or are sent off the coast of Britain in a slave ship.
Portchester castle is a real location in Britain with an actual notorious history for being haunted by apparitions.
Reality bends in the castle like a psychological thriller, and it's hard to tell what's real, and what's fake when the abstract body-horror monsters introduce themselves among the average redcoat musketeer enemies.
This game deals with tough subjects like existentialism, and wondering whether or not you'll go to heaven, whether or not god can forgive you for being a killer. Processing painful losses, and post traumatic stress disorder in the perspective of the soldier postwar, the essence of longing to see your family postwar while unfortunately being a P.O.W. wondering if your family is even still alive after the smoke clears on a war that went on for 8 years. (1775 - 1783).
With that being said, just remember, this game isn't out to coat anything in sugar.
America's revolutionary war against Britain though it had to happen for America to be free, had lasted almost a decade, and claimed 54,000 lives on both sides causing pain for all people involved.
Chained to the cold iron of your cell, nobody else knows your plight but the redcoats who ready their musket and guard behind the bars, will you find a window of opportunity to escape, or become one of the many victims of British Prison quarters post revolutionary war.
