Super Mario 256 [Creepypasta]

I found a strange Super Mario All-Stars cartridge at a flea market — the label had “256" scratched in with a knife.

When I started it, the menu looked normal… except there was a fifth option at the bottom. No title, just a blinking question mark.

I selected it.

The level looked like Super Mario Bros. 1, but empty. No enemies. No music. The blocks made whispering sounds when I hit them.
Then, at the end of the level, there was no flagpole — only a pit.

Mario turned toward the screen. His eyes were wide, unblinking.
A message appeared:

“THE FOUR ARE GONE.
I AM FIVE.”

The game froze, and when I reset the console, every other game on the menu was gone.
Only one remained:

Super Mario 5.
