Introduction How many times have you walked up to a system in your office and needed to click through several diagnostic windows to remind yourself of important aspects of its configuration, such as its name, IP address, or operating system version? If you manage multiple computers you probably need BGInfo. It automatically displays relevant information about a Windows computer on the desktop's background, such as the computer name, IP address, service pack version, and more. You can edit any field as well as the font and background colors, and can place it in your startup folder so that it runs every boot, or even configure it to display as the background for the logon screen. Because BGInfo simply writes a new desktop bitmap and exits,

BgInfo is a free Windows program that allows the background to include information about the system that Windows is running on, including things like free disk space, network speed, hostname, CPU/RAM, current user, etc.

shows the BgInfo GUI, and how to setup a scheduled task to run the program at logon and repeat every 2 minutes on a Windows 10 desktop. The program will also work on Windows Server and Terminal Services (using the /all switch). The scheduled task could easily be set via GPO for large deployments.

doing a remote desktop session or a phone session and they need to ask some

basic questions and get the answers to some basic questions quickly easily and

without having to navigate through a lot of you know menus and settings to try to

find out that information so this comes in really really handy for helpdesk

technicians for system administrators that need certain data you know quickly

and easily such as the the host name or the IP address you know pretty much

anything you can think of related to that particular system can be put into

the the background image as you see here in my Windows 10 virtual machine here.
