By pressing the "Attack" button, you take life points from your opponent equal to your power. Then, if the opponent hasn't been hit with "Freeze" magic, they'll attack you. Open the slots that may contain life or mana, which you can use to use cards. Beware of the skull slots—they subtract life.Each card has description about it's power.
