The Game Concepts seem pretty cool, and it could be one of the better types of prequels, in the sense of meaningfully being able to explore the past rather than go into a detour for what might as well be unrelated to UNDERTALE.
I like how the achievement system incentivizes us to roleplay the game as if we were Flowey ourselves.
The vines in battle animations also seem to be colored and shaped similarly to how they were used in true pacifist, so good job there!
I do have some complaints though...
1. I don't really get the art-style. It seems to be a poor use of resources to remake existing UT Sprites with gross shading and a stiff, amateur shape in what I can assume is meant to be detail? It seems to lose sight of the practical purpose the original style had...
The Background Tiles are not even altered to be consistent with the direction being taken, so the new sprites blend even more poorly into existing backgrounds.
It would be easier to make sprites in the style of UT for anything that did not exist before, as it would reduce the overall workload, and not require such rigorous shading and detailing. It is best not to pour resources into redundant elements, else you risk bloating development and diluting focus on areas that matter.
2. The logo seems to have inconsistent pixel sizes, with the hollow heart being reasonable, but the Flower using smaller pixels than the rest. Functionally resembling the concept of sub-pixels, which should be avoided when working with pixel art of enlarged size to avoid looking inauthentic.
3. I think it is a little odd that TP is present, since it doesn't seem to be monster-exclusive in Deltarune, and also is only currently tied to the Dark World as far as we know...
However! We do have another type of resource associated with magic AND Undertale! "EN" was a scrapped resource from UNDERTALE early in Development when magic was still being considered for combat, but eventually scrapped because Toby could not think of any Spells.
It still has remnants inside of the code, and seems to increase in capacity as your LV does. It seemed to be similar in function to MP, but we are not ultimately sure how Toby would have worked in Resource Management if he went with this system. Maybe ITEMs would have recovered some of it?
4. Less of a complaint and more of a concern... But what is the plan for EXP distribution? It seems like it would be optimal to beeline for Hotland (Not CORE, as the encounters were Mercenaries that Mettaton hired to kill us in UNDERTALE.) to gain as much EXP as possible to make boss fights easier, even if the Monsters of that area would be harder to fight than normal. Would it be intentionally left available for players that are confident in being able to reap these bigger rewards?
