A backstory to the events of the game, just so you have it:
You recently spent the night at your best friend’s house. It was a wonderful time, full of laughter and memories, but the presence of two other people in the company was p̖̗̕o̖̗̘̙̜̕ì̛̖̗̘̙̜́̕s̛̖̗̀́̕o̖̕n̖̗̕ì̛̖̗́̕n̛̖̗̕g̛̖̀́̕ the atmosphere. Their taunts and teasing, although playful, left a bad taste in your mouth. When it was time to leave, you were eager to leave, but found that the elevator was not working.
Your friend tried to calm you down, assuring you that it was just a temporary technical problem. However, a recent event came to mind: the news of an elevator in the same building falling from the 15th floor, taking three people with it. You remember reading, that the brakes were old and could not handle the load. You saw something in the frightened faces of your friends as they discussed the incident that made you fe̍e̍̎l̍̎ ̍̎o̍̎u̍̎t̍ of̖ ̖̗p̖̗l̖̗a̖̗c̖̗e̖ - in a world where life and death can depend on completely insignificant circumstances.
Looking for an exit, you decided that going down the stairs would be a great idea. It seemed such a simple solution, even encouraging, despite the fact that your leg was already leaning towards the exit.
