It's been a long journey, but at last, Frisk and Papyrus come face to face with Queen Toriel. Burdened and broken after a century's struggle to break the cycle of hatred between humans and monsters, she wants nothing more than Frisk and Papyrus to leave, return to Snowdin, and accept their bittersweet circumstances.

But they've come this far, and Flowey promised a peaceful path to freedom. Despite everything, they're filled with DETERMINATION.

Welcome to Fallen Crown, a fully playable Toriel battle from the Undertale AU, Inverted Fate! This is an official playable release, programmed by the talented Philiplol, with writing by me, Dorked, the AU's creator and art assets provided by myself, SuperKirbyLover, Electric Sparks, and Cap'n Toad! DISCLAIMER: The Inverted Fate team does NOT in any way condone the actions of Revie. She contributed minor assets back in 2018, but is no longer associated with the project.

As this fight is part of a larger story, this fight will contain MAJOR SPOILERS for Inverted Fate and takes place after Chapter 50. For the best experience, we at least recommend some passing familiarity with the AU or the recent New Home video.

FAQ:

Q: So this is an official battle?

A: Yes! I worked extensively with Philip and the rest of the team to make sure it accurately captures my creative vision.

Q: What engine is this made in?

A: This fight uses the Sheeptester's modded scratch engine to create a fight that is true to Undertale's resolution and removes many of scratch's limits. Rest assured, we aim to deliver a high quality product.

Q: How can I play this?

A: We will be releasing the fight in HTML5 and hopefully .exe formats to give flexibility in how you play. It will also be embedded in the IF website, if all goes well.

Q: Isn't this just Underswap?

A: Not by a long shot! While both AUs feature Toriel as the queen, Inverted Fate's story is markedly different, taking place after a failed UT pacifist run that results in a new timeline. Frisk is a speaking protagonist, Flowey remembers UT completely, as does Chara, who acts as Frisk's narrator, and Papyrus is a party member as well as Undyne's lab partner... And those are just a few differences.

The best way to understand Inverted Fate is to read the comic on the official website (linked above). We understand that this AU is VERY long, so while you're welcome to start here, you may be a little lost. This AU is very continuity-driven.

Q: What can I expect from this fight?

Cool new gameplay mechanics, impressive visual presentation, a custom soundtrack made just for this AU, and with luck? Many emotions.

There may also be a few secrets within.

Q: So is this the neutral final boss?

A: Unlike in Undertale, Toriel is not the "neutral finale". That honor belongs to the Determinator fight and the chapter that follows it (chapters 47 and 48 respectively). At this point in the story, we are squarely in pacifist, and there's actually a lot more story to follow this!

However, this does not make Toriel's fight any less of a climactic moment. It just carries a different narrative context than most monarch fights.

Q: So I can't kill her?

You can FIGHT. But don't play this expecting "genocide" content.

Q: Can I use your music/art/etc? What about gameplay videos?

A: You may not reupload our music or art on your own channels unless its use is TRANSFORMATIVE. For instance, speedpaints, fandubs, commentaries, and the like are acceptable uses. Straight up reuploads or "all themes" videos are not.
