I just tried out the first chapter, and I can confidently say that I will never beat it. And not because it's "difficult". It's because this game has a lot of flaws. Now don't get me wrong, I see that effort was put into this game, but it's far from being perfect. Here's why I think so:
First, the monster. He has three main characteristics: he is a bit faster than you, he always knows where you are and there's no way for you to know where he is, unless he is very close. These three elements do not work together at all, because you can't make up any strategy to counter him. Basically, if you went the wrong direction (and you can't know if it's the wrong or right one unless it's too late for you to escape), there's no way for you to win, except if you already switched the 4 levers and you manage to escape at the last second; but there's much more chances that you're going to die.
Second, the levers: they are randomly placed each time you play (as far as I could tell), and because of the fog, there's no way for you to know their locations. This means that there are only two ways to win: first, try your luck until you manage to get the perfect run (which you may not even get), second, map the entire area with all levers and exit before using any lever (in normal mode only, the monster spawns when the first lever is used) and then, find the best route possible and pray that you won't encounter the monster. This strategy, even though it is in theory the best one, is annoyingly long and boring, and you would have to redo it each time you die.
See the problem? The key elements of your game does not require the player to have any skills to beat it, instead it requires them to have immense luck just to beat normal mode, so let's not even talk about Hypersomniac Mode...
I'll still follow this game though, because I think it has potential, and I like its aesthetics!
Oh, and I had two other issues with the game, they're more minor though:
Not being able to go left or right with the keyboard is pretty annoying, especially when a monster is chasing you
The jumpscare sound is not very good
N.B.: Sorry if I sounded too harsh in my comment. I know it's a little chapter and that you're the only one working on it (at least I think so), it's just that the problems I listed completely ruin the game imo
In Lucid you play as a unnamed character who every night has extremely vivid nightmares. Your job is to get him out through a series of puzzles and close-calls. You don't know why this is happening, but one thing you do know is that the bed is the exit.
Lucid is a collection of short and challenging horror-puzzle games. Each chapter is filled with a different mix of challenge, horror, and puzzle so no two chapters are alike. Before you start getting in the midset of decoding a complex story, I have to say that is no overarching storyline. This game does not hold your hand, it's meant to be hard on every step of the way. I hope you enjoy playing, and good luck.
