Mystique: Ages in Time

Mystique: Ages in Time is a fantasy themed boomer shooter, developed on the classic Build Engine, hugely inspired by games like Heretic, Hexen 1 & 2, Duke Nukem 3D and Quake. It features 30+ levels, pixelated graphics in the style of the 90's, and an original soundtrack. It was originally released in January 1998 by a large team of independent developers, for free. Some of them went on to successful careers in the gaming industry, and later went to work for companies such as at 3D Realms and Ritual Entertainment, where they worked on cult games like Prey, Sin, Heavy Metal, and others.

For almost a year, I've been doing a remaster of Mystique: Ages in Time. I played this game as a kid, and because I have a lot of affection for it, I decided to update it and make it into a much better experience. Original version was probably released unfinished, and nowadays it's barely playable, and in some cases, cannod be finished without cheats. I fixed hundreds of bugs, polished the graphics, reworked the game balance, updated all 30 levels, added new gameplay mechanics and new enemy types, converted the game to widescreen, reshuffled the music tracks and even remixed some of them... The list goes on.

With this remaster, I hope to introduce this extremely obscure game from the 90's to modern audience. In my opinion, a ton of effort was put into it, especially for being largely developed in 1997.
