Since I couldn’t visit the campus myself, I decided to bring Northwestern home by creating a fully explorable game that captures its traditions, history, and iconic landmarks! 💜

I developed this as a way for both international and domestic students to experience Northwestern’s vibrant culture, especially for those who might not have the financial means to visit in person. Choosing a college is a big step, and I hope this game helps make that decision easier by allowing players to truly immerse themselves in NU’s traditions, customs, and history before even setting foot on campus.

My ultimate goal is to expand the game to include the entire Northwestern campus, making it a valuable resource for anyone considering NU.

To recreate the campus as authentically as possible, I used Google Satellite Imagery and Google Street View to study the layout, road placements, and architectural details. This helped me design an environment that feels just like walking through NU in real life!

I modeled every building from scratch in Blender 4.3, ensuring the smallest details matched the real campus. Using C# Unity 2022, I brought the world to life, adding physics, interactive elements, and smooth exploration mechanics. The visuals were enhanced with Photoshop, while procedural generation helped me create natural landscapes, realistic textures, and immersive environments.

Right now, I’m still developing the storyline, aiming to make this more than just a virtual tour, expect hidden secrets, Northwestern traditions, and an engaging way to experience the university’s culture. My goal is to expand the game to include the entire NU campus, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in every aspect of student life!

Important Information

Since this is still in development, optimization for lower-end PCs is a work in progress.

Also, while I’m crafting an epic storyline that will eventually make you question reality itself (or at least entertain you for a bit), right now, you get to explore the Northwestern Campus.

I'm actively working on everything, so expect updates! And if you experience lag, just remember: great things take time, unlike instant noodles.
