What do you think?

For a review, I'll say the graphics are simple but effective, and the controls/physics/ are excellent, although native gamepad support wasn't working (maybe try coding an autohotkey autostart thing), reaching the end of each level is fun without going into the collectathon type gameplay loop, I'd say it's difficulty is perfect with extra lives scatted throughout the stages and you will need to play from level 1 a few times to feel the quality of the game. With 6 levels it's a good demo. There's only 3 monsters. A slime, a mushroom and a ghost. They are fun but non-threatening or much of a challenge. [?/10] -- Incomplete game

Excellent game, I played thought it and it makes me want a burger. I have a few ideas for it: More enemy types for difficulty control (namely some hard enemies so you don't need to congest the level like in level 6) / Different ways to die (funny animations) / theme ideas (desert/forest/canyon/shallow_lake/gravestone manor/), some kind of burger minigame at the end of each level, time slowly lose points for gameplay loop, platforms that toggle 123_4. Monster ideas [bat/rolling rock/poison dart/jumping spider/], Take your pick :D

Smile Guy Wants Burgers!

Version: 0.3.0about 1 month ago

The game is simple: Smile guy has no burgers. help him get burgers! This game is a love letter to classic console and computer gaming with an emphasis on a kinetic and tight arcade-style game-play experience. The goal is to hopefully encourage people (including myself) to make stuff and stop thinking you must be perfect or else it's not worth it. it is worth it if you enjoy it. Maybe you don't enjoy it. that's okay, don't force it. Everyone has their thing! :)

I have a few goals in mind for this project.

1)  to make a reusable game engine that's solid and feature-packed. something I can share with my peers and help people make their own stuff too!

2) to make a game that evokes a very specific late 80's PC odd computer machine feeling... like a commodore 64 or Zx Spectrum style but, if it was given more horse-power!

3) just.... finish something dang it! I needa stop overthinking stuff and just make stuff :)

Let me know how it runs! Other than the CRT shader it should run very smoothly on even a potato computer but I might be wrong. that's why we do these public tests.

Thanks to SittingDuck's CRT filter, it really brings the feel of the game together!
