I didn't have a horrible time playing this (the whole concept seemed very McMillenesque to me, which I can always appreciate, and I liked the references in the background), but this is a beginner's project and it shows. This is in part due to unity just not being the best engine for this sort of game in the first place, but there's some general problems you might want to consider tackling at some point:
Some of the sound effects, especially the jingle in between levels, kind of stick out unpleasantly, either by being to loud, breaking with the mood of the game, or both
The button-mapping for gamepads is all over the place and not consistently referenced ingame
The way you set up the camera is in conflict with the design of your levels, which are more like puzzlerooms, than environments to explore

Slimer is a story-driven 2D puzzle-platformer and also the name of the game's protagonist. The game setting is an underground laboratory, where Slimer is kept against its will. It's your job to help it escape!

A few of the things you can do in the game:
Control movements: Walk, jump, climb in the ceiling, and jump and slide on walls
Interact with pressure plates to make things move around
Pick up items
Change color and test it
Control electricity
Avoid acid and vacuum cleaners
