I don't really get this... I really don't.
I enjoy all the artwork that is in the game, and I enjoy the controls, but the levels aren't built around how Sonic controls the greatest.
Like in Sonic 1, the reason why Green Hill has been reused in every Sonic game since Generations is because the first zone had a great sense of speed and slopes in a very calculated manner.
This game has too many flat open platforms and random slopes with no significant purpose to gain speed.
While there is some great speed senses sometimes, they're overshadowed by the longer, more bland sections.
There are no real alternate routes as well, as they all are always intertwined to one route after a short period of time, but I still do enjoy the variety in the small alternate routes, as it really makes every playthrough feel different.
The enemy placements also aren't the greatest in this game, most of the time they aren't in a place where you would be rolling to gain more speed, any places where your beginning to build up your speed, or in a slower place.
Most of the enemies feel randomly placed in places where you would be running @ 7-8 speed in order for you to not lose speed, and then you get hit.
I just feel like this is good besides the level design. Very simillar to how many people see Sonic CD, and I wouldn't enjoy if that goes down that route, so I would recommend looking at the classic games, and what made their level design good. This looks promising.
Cool
Ok
This will be a new sonic game that will be fast pace multi-path game, this will not be the best sonic game but it will be better than nothing.
